Three Days in Seattle
ICYMI my family adventured in the Pacific Northwest over the holidays. I was recently asked if I heavily plan my itineraries on trips and the answer is a hard no. I usually pick a couple of things I don’t want to miss and do some research on food. Navigating eating out for every meal, especially with kids, is tricky. I’m not going to lie, if I do plan an itinerary, meals are at the center!
What we ate in Seattle:
McMenamins: a kid-friendly brew pub with house beers. This is kind of a locals spot with a few outposts. It was great as a first dinner after traveling all day
Pasta Casalinga: I would have opted for seafood at Pike Place but I wanted to find a place my kids would be happy. My oldest claims this was the best pasta he’s ever had. I am still dreaming about my Beetroot Pesto with Burrata.
Momiji Sushi: We got takeout from here for the adults to take a break from taking kids to restaurants. I miss good sushi and this totally delivered (literally and figuratively)
Queen Anne Beer Hall: Beer spots always seem to cater to families and this spacious restaurant was great. The menu had interesting food options (not just usual pub grub) and the beer menu was extensive.
Bake Shop: Around the corner from the Beer Hall, this was a quick caffeine stop with a side of Miso Brownie. I also grabbed a couple of bottles from the natural wine shelves to enjoy on our trip.
We were able to see lots of sights because we stayed right at the Seattle Center. I didn’t plan on hitting up this many, but with all the rain and cold it just worked out. Our priorities were the Pacific Science Center for kids and the Museum of Pop Culture for us, but we also ended up making it up the needle (they open at 8:30 which made for a perfect first stop), and saw the Chihuly Gardens.
After our Seattle stint we stayed with friends for New Years and I had my first King Crab leg (LOVED). All in all, we had a lovely trip and totally recommend Seattle as a destination for families!
