What to Expect at a Rio Beach

Picture this… you go to the beach and don’t have to lug a half campsite to be shaded, fed and happy. In the US going to the beach takes a full car load of gear, coolers, and anything you may need to survive the day in the sun. In Rio, beach vendors have everything you might need, and even extras.

Supporting this local economy is not only convenient, it is also as important as paying for any other tourist attraction or restaurant. It is estimated that 4 billion Reals are spent on beaches per year, providing thousands of vendors with their livelihood.

But the choices! It can be overwhelming if you have never been to a Rio beach before. Here are my favorite things to enjoy:

🖤Agua de Coco/ Coconut Water
🤍Matte Leao com Limao/ Arnold Palmer
🖤Biscoito Globo
🤍Milho/ Corn (bonus for being waste free)
🖤Queijo Coalho/ A grilled cheese on a stick

And picking up a new “Canga” (a Sarong) is a must!
